Dierama pulcherrimum ‘Blackbird’ – Angel’s Fishing Rod – Iridaceae (The Iris Family)

Availability:

$ 13.93

Description Angel’s fishing rods are stunning, long-lived perennials with thin, arching stems that produce showers of pendulous bells that will sway in the slightest breeze. ‘Blackbird’ is the darkest of all Dierama with luscious claret purple bells on tall stems. This is a seed strain so there can be some variation in colour and occasional lighter flowers though most will be very dark and all will be beautiful. The foliage is narrow and grass- or iris-like. Beautiful on the edge, corner or possibly at a turning point in a path so you can stop and stare! Likes a sunny spot with good drainage and extra summer moisture. Somewhat slow to bulk up but your patience will be rewarded.
