Dierama ‘Ripe Cherries’ – Angel’s Fishing Rod – Iridaceae (The Iris Family)

Availability:

$ 13.93

Description Angel’s fishing rods are stunning, long-lived perennials with thin, arching stems that produce showers of pendulous bells that will sway in the slightest breeze. ‘Ripe Cherries’ is a hybrid seed strain of two dwarf alpine Dierama that produce compact, extra hardy plants to just two feet tall in a range of colours from near red to lavender. We wonder if they might be hardier than zone 7 but it will take some adventurous zone 6 Canadians to test them out. The foliage is narrow and grass- or iris-like. Beautiful on the edge, corner or possibly at a turning point in a path so you can stop and stare! Likes a sunny spot with good drainage and extra summer moisture. Somewhat slow to bulk up but your patience will be rewarded.
