Description Chionochloa rubra is a beautiful New Zealand endemic grass with narrow, linear blades that are tawny to bronzy red held in an upright, vase- or arc-like form. Plants are evergreen which is unusual and valuable for true grasses. The winter colour is beige with coppery bases. In rich moist conditions, plants can reach four or more feet high. In drier conditions plants will reach three feet high. Red tussock grass is a tough, long-lived species. Photo: Wikipedia.
