Alstroemeria ‘Indian Summer’ – Peruvian Lily – Alstroemeriaceae (The Alstroemeria Family)

Availability:

$ 17.10

Description Alstroemeria ‘Indian Summer’ has flowers in sunset shades of coppery-orange and golden-yellow streaked and freckled with dark burgundy atop luscious burgundy-bronze, linear foliage. A vigorous, tropical-looking plant with flowers that are long lasting when cut and the capacity to produce loads of flowers in successive waves over a long period from early summer well into fall. It forms a bushy, upright clump. Prefers moist, fertile, well-drained soils. Officially hardy to zone 6 but recent trials in Colorado have been hardy to zone 5! Modern cultivars are mainly clumping to slowly spreading but will not be invasive. Wonderful in the mixed border, in containers, and long lasting in vases. Pull stems instead of cutting to encourage a quicker reflush. In colder zones, mulch clumps with a foot of fallen leaves or grow in pots and protect in a frost-free location for winter. Attracts pollinators. Deer resistant.
