Description Agapanthus praecox Zambezi is a gorgeous lily-of-the-Nile with variegated foliage and soft blue flowers. The long, broad, strap-like foliage puts on quite the show with thick, variable, light yellow margins providing much interest well before and after blooming. The umbels of soft blue flowers usually occur in early summer atop 28 inch high stems. Lily-of-the-Nile are gorgeous, subtropical-looking, long-blooming plants. They thrives in full sun and fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Awesome in the perennial border, grown in swaths, and in containers (where many gardeners find Agapanthus easier to bloom). A great cut flower. Mulch each winter with fallen leaves or protect above freezing in its pot. Hummingbird and bee attractor. Deer resistant. Cultivar name: ‘KEK5006’.
