Actaea simplex ‘Pink Spike’ – Bugbane – Ranunculaceae (The Buttercup Family)

Availability:

$ 19.00

Description Actaea (Cimicifuga) ‘Pink Spike’ has the gorgeous deep burgundy leaves that you’ve come to expect from the Atropurpurea cultivars of bugbane but with a subtle twist on the flowers. The buds are a beautiful raspberry pink opening to pale pink, fragrant flowers that lighten towards white. In our experience we have not seen flowers as dark as our photo. The pink colour is more subtle. However, the foliage offers a warm purple tone that we find a nice departure from the cool purple blacks of ‘Hillside Black Beauty’ and ‘Brunette’. Evenly moist soil from sun to part shade. Pollinator attractor. The spikes provide seeds popular with songbirds in fall and winter. Deer resistant.
